HIGHLIGHTING one of the city's famous wild rapids, the City Council during its regular session yesterday presided over by Councilor Dante Pajo adopted a resolution declaring the Whitewater Rafting as the primary One Town, One Product of Cagayan de Oro. Councilor Alden Bacal, chair of the committee on tourism, authored the resolution even as the city continues to promote the white water rafting adventure to local residents and tourists.The One Town One Product (OTOP) Philippines is a priority program of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo which aims to promote entrepreneurship and create jobs. Under the OTOP, local chief executives of each city and municipality take the lead in identifying, developing and promoting a specific product or service, which has a competitive advantage. OTOP Philippines supports micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to manufacture, offer and market distinctive products or services through the use of indigenous raw materials and local skills and talents.
